CD Projekt sends in Geralt to help its devs kill Mohg as it congratulates Shadow of the Erdtree on eclipsing Witcher 3’s record review scores-

The record is broken, the titan is fallen, yesterday’s revolutionary upstart has become today’s defeated incumbent: The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion—CDPR’s excellent swansong for one of the best RPGs of all time—has officially been supplanted by Shadow of the Erdtree.

In the eight years since it released, Blood and Wine has claimed the record for “best-reviewed expansion for a roleplaying game,” but that’s just history now. In a tweet earlier today, CDPR congratulated FromSoft on nabbing the title out from under it: “Elden Ring gets to wear that crown now,” read a tweet from The Witcher’s official account, “Congratulations to the entire team at FromSoftware on their stellar work!”

CDPR is taking the development gracefully. In fact, it looks like a solid chunk of the studio has spent the last few days just like the rest of us have: Gearing up for Erdtree’s release. In a follow-up tweet, the studio shared a patchwork of 16 screenshots of CDPR devs…

Disney Dreamlight Valley is getting multiplayer this year-

Disney Dreamlight Valley has shared its roadmap for the first half of 2023 including some new characters, several star path season passes—oh, and multiplayer too. Gameloft has not given any further explanation about what kind of co-op or online multiplayer DDV will have, but it sure is right there on the plan for the year so keep your ears peeled.

Whether or not DDV would have any multiplayer was a bit of a personal goose chase for me last year. Only one mention of it seemed to exist in the wild (thanks IGN) and when I asked Gameloft about it I basically got Jedi mind tricks for an answer—these are not the features you’re looking for. But apparently patience, if not perseverance, wins the day. We sure will be getting multiplayer, in some form, at some point this year.

Importantly, we don’t know any specifics about what we’ll be able to do in Dreamlight Valley’s multiplayer yet, but as a bit of conjecture from me it sure seems like visit…

Larian knows its audience, promises ‘improved smooches’ in Baldur’s Gate 3-

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a very horny RPG, as well as being broadly brilliant, and Larian knows exactly what its players want: smooching. Patch 6, dropping next week, will give the horny romantics something to get excited about in the form of “improved smooches”, along with some other additions.

In a tease on Twitter, the BG3 account shows off a tender moment between burly Druid Halsin and thirsty vampire Astarion, and the response has been predictably enthusiastic. The little forehead kiss at the end? Flawless. It’s also a very Halsin thing to do, given that he’s a protective bear.

I’m just sad that, in my current playthrough, I’m a psychotic dragon lad who is too busy doing murders to smooch anyone. I guess I’ll save the romance for my next one.

On top of the improved smooches, Larian also teased new camp idle animations, new legendary actions in Honour mode and more bug fixes. “It’s a hefty one,” according to a follow-up tweet, and full patc…

It’s taken more than 30 years, but Flashback 2 finally has a release date-

Flashback 2, the took-your-time-getting-here sequel to the classic ’90s platformer Flashback, has a sweet new trailer and, finally, a proper release date: Publisher Microids announced today that after more than 30 years of waiting, fans will finally get their follow-up on November 16.

Flashback is a sidescrolling platformer that tells the tale of Conrad B. Hart, an agent of some unknown intelligence agency who discovers that human society is being infiltrated by shapeshifting aliens known as Morphs. He’s captured by the Morphs, who wipe his memory, but manages to escape and discover a message he left to himself that sends him to the city of New Washington. Much running around and violence ensues, and Conrad eventually finds himself on the aliens’ homeworld, which, as a good and dutiful human, he blows up.

One of the more unusual things about Flashback is its connection to the groundbreaking platformer Another World (released in North America as Out of This World), which …

People are trying to resell Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Editions for a profit even though supplies aren’t limited and there’s plenty of stock-

Opportunists are trying to sell Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition pre-orders on eBay for as much as $300. It’s always irritating when people snatch up limited edition collectibles and graphics cards to resell them for a profit, but there’s an even bigger problem with this scheme: The Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition isn’t a limited edition, and you can just pre-order one from Larian for $80 right now. It’ll ship next year.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Editions are indeed sold out, and are currently going for over $500 on eBay. But these physical Deluxe Editions aren’t in danger of going off sale anytime soon, according to Larian director of publishing Michael Douse.

Although Larian has already “blitzed past” the minimum number of physical Deluxe Edition orders it expected, says Douse, the company was prepared for that likelihood, and set a Q1 2024 shipping window precisely so that it could add shipping waves as needed to cover demand.

Nvidia reportedly cutting supply on slow selling RTX 4070 GPU-

Chalk this one up firmly as rumour, but Nvidia is reportedly temporarily winding back manufacturing and therefore supply of the new RTX 4070 graphics card, ostensibly due to slow sales.

Sources in China, the Board Channel/Bobantang forums (via Benchlife), are reporting on a rumoured supply reduction, with the consensus implying that Nvidia will constrict supply of the RTX 4070 for around a month.

The implication is that the RTX 4070 hasn’t been selling as well as expected, certainly not in comparison to the increased production the green team put in place for this launch, and so there’s a glut of unsold cards at retailers. So Nvidia is therefore cutting supply to help prop prices up.

Certainly the RTX 4070 has been widely available since launch. In the last few days several cards have appeared at retailers around the world at well below Nvidia’s recommended retail price.

We’ve spoken to retailers in the UK who have said that their sales of the RTX 4070 have b…

Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT pricing ‘super aggressive’ according to AMD-

AMD’s gaming graphics supremo, Scott Herkelman, has been expounding the virtues of the company’s new Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT GPUs, characterising their pricing as “super aggressive”.

In an interview with Club386, Herkelman was cross examined on the pretty reasonable question of whether the new 7700 XT and 7800 XT were priced a too close for comfort.

The 7700 XT clocks in at $449 and the 7800 XT at $499. The narrow distance between the two GPUs mirrors that of the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX at launch late last year. At $899 and $999, respectively, that made for the same 10% premium for the higher performing card.

The 7900 XT’s actual selling price has since dropped to well under $800, arguably creating a more suitable separation and implying the pricing was too close for market realities. Herkelman, perhaps not surprisingly, doesn’t see it that way.

“The percentage price gap between 7900 XTX / XT and 7800 XT / 7700 XT is roughly the same, though dollar-wise it…

Remnant 2 player gets punished with eternal torment upon the spike after drawing with a DLC boss-

Remnant 2’s latest DLC The Awakened King is a good time. I recently blasted through its six-hour long one-shot campaign as a glass cannon Gunslinger/Hunter build who folded in two the moment anything so much as breathed on me.

One boss, however, doesn’t care much for your health or damage resistance. Bruin, Blade of the King, is a knight whose obsession for impalement gives Vlad the Impaler a run for his money. He also has a one-hit KO move, a command-grab lunge that leaves you hanging on a pike. See below.

It’s pretty tolerable for an instant kill move, with a very obvious sound cue that tells you when to dodge and a massive wind-up. Still, if you mess up, you’re getting spiked. One player on the game’s subreddit, however, was punished with far more than death for their crimes.

Vastriva’s teammates manage to slay Bruin while the impale animation plays out. A victorious “Quest Complete!” appears on the screen while their poor body hangs limply from their enem…
